Rackham's?
This is a more than a little embarassing. We are will be visiting GC on a cruiseship.  Really, it isn 't our fault. We were suppose to be going to Costa Maya, but Disney has decided that we can't go there due to hurricane damage. They have decided to send us to GC instead. Anyway, since we are spending a week in GC in Jan., we will mostly be staying on the ship rather than becoming "one of them". You know, the people we all try to avoid when at Morritt's...
So, back to the question: we have heard about Rackham's Pub and are wondering if anyone has been there and if so, do you love it?
That's funny! When does your cruise stop?
Never been to Rackham's.
There's nothing wrong with being on a cruise ship. You'll never be "one of them", well unless you walk out into the street looking the wrong way because you finally spotted the Hard Rock Café.
Our first visit to Cayman was on a cruise. That's when we fell in love with the place. We have been to Rackhams, it is near the ships so easy to get to. Basically it is a tourist redneck bar that also has a dock with tables. The food is OK for bar food and it kinda has the atmosphere you would expect for a dockside bar. If you want a NICE lunch/dinner, go to Bachuus. It is not on the water and is across from Senior Frog's, owned by Brits and has a wonderful atmosphere for a wine bar/resturant. It is small so if you go during lunch hour during the week be prepared to wait. If you want the view, go to Rackhams or I can't remember the name of the other resturant near the Atlantis Submarine that has a more local atmosphere. Hope this helps.
I'll bet lots of us had our first Cayman experience via the cruise route. We did. Went to stingray sand bar, wondered around the touristy shops, snorkeled by eden rock and finished with a couple of drinks and a Cuban at Paradise Bar & Grill. We decided we had to come back some day.
So, has this thread been officially hijacked?
This thread is staying right on topic. We also made our 1st trip via a cruiseship, feel in love with the island, somehow mangaged to rent a 1 BR at Morritt's for a week a year later and then pined for the place until we finally bought. Still don't like to see the cruise crowd however, even if we sometimes are part of it. We plan all our trips to town around the ship schedule. We'll work hard to not fit in with them! Trip is in about 3 weeks.
Glad to get the info about Rackham's. Doesn't sound like us much. We prefer Over the Edge type places. Maybe we'll stay onboard for lunch and save dining $$ for Jan. Honestly, we weren't even aware there is a Hard Rock. Hope we doen't get hit by a car if it jumps out at us all of a sudden!!
